Sorry, another question about housing. At the moment my 3 sows are living in a 2 storey hutch which is OK for them but I'd like to give them more space. My mum won't let me buy a new hutch so I have to wait until the hutch becomes unusable or broken - which I don't think will be long because it has a few things wrong with it, it's all chewed up, the lid has broken and the door is stiff. Anyway, I am just thinking about getting another hutch, which won't be for a few months yet. My mum has already said she liked it when we had a big group of sows, so she's said that she doesn't mind me getting some more guinea-pigs as long as they are sows. I don't want anymore sows at the moment because the hutch isn't big enough to have them all in but I'm basically looking for a hutch that would fit 5 or 6 sows in it. If you have a big group of sows what hutch do you have and what would you suggest? As I said, I won't be able to get it for a few months yet but I've got some of the money I got for my birthday and I've got about £100 to spend.

This is the biggest hutch I've seen http://www.rehutches.com/triplehutch08.htm but would need to make sure all of the piggies use all of the floors.

Two smaller ones I have seen are http://www.cumfypets.co.uk/giant-6ft-x-20-x-60-triple-hutch-with-2-hutches-and-a-build-in-under-run-194-p.asp and http://www.the-rabbit-hutch-shop.com/6x24-giant-triple-decker-rabbit-hutch-with-ramps-gdhgddr624wf.html

The prices are pretty varied.

I'm not sure how people keep big groups in bought hutches - Most groups I've seen have been indoor piggies and I've often wondered how the outdoor piggies are housed.

Good luck finding one :)

You may be better off getting one made, like I did. It was cheaper. The smaller companies or independant people are usually less expensive.

That's great that your mom wants a big group of sows too :)

I only have two sows but want two more. I have a double hutch too, but it's attached to a safe run that they have access to all the time. They have a little house in the run too. In the winter I'll cover the roof of the run so they can use it in all weather. They use the run a lot, and use both storeys of the hutch so I feel like it'd be fine for a couple more girls too. I also have three boys in an identical set up and they love it.

So maybe if you could attach a run to your hutch all the time, then that would make more room for more piggies? The run would have to be strong and safe against predators like foxes. And could be on concrete or paving slabs.

Or you can get 6ft double or triple hutches, which would be brilliant! Like Kimberley's links, those are good. :)

We ended up buying a shed as there were no cages big enough for our herd. The shed was only £100 too so cheaper than a lot of the bigger hutches.

Though i only have 3 piggies now, i use to have 25 and i customised a hut for them which they seemd to love:) though the neighbours did chuckle when they heard them all chattering away on daily basis hehe
