Hey there again y'all! I just wanted to share that Penny's C&C cage arrived and she's been settling in great the past couple of days. :yahoo:She decided it feels secure enough, probably because of the coro sides, so I didn't have to make it smaller to start out. She's been doing a lot of running! I've got an order of fleecy things like hideys and floor covers coming for her soon, but I guess it takes time because someone has to cut and sew them. I did get those two new water bottles hung up, but she's rather attached to her old cruddy one so it's still there.

Here are some pics, a couple from when I first built the cage and was still zip-tying the lid together while she darted around her new space, and a couple from today where she's already gotten cozy and snuggled up with some microfiber towels I gave her. And one of my dog pouting, because he was jealous of everyone looking at Penny in her new guinea pig habitat instead of at him. So look at him. 😅

Lovely big pig house, what a lucky little girlie Penny is. Also, your dog is beautiful, tell him he’s a good boy ❤️

A little Penny update! She went to the exotic vet today and got a very thorough physical examination. I wish my doctor were that meticulous, man. I was planning on taking her this week anyway, but she got a bit of wet nose discharge and then did a couple of wheezy wheeks this morning, and that freaked me out so I rushed her in.

Of course, by the time the vet saw her a couple hours later, her respiration and her nose were 100% perfect and clear. The vet says she probably just got a little bit of hay up there and I caught her snorting it out, but to call him if it keeps happening. She was diving around in a hay pile right before that...

Apparently she is actually in remarkable shape considering how much neglect she has endured. Her report says "thin/muscle wasted, but otherwise perfect and super cute!" With four exclamation points. That vet loved her so much I thought he was going to steal her!

Here she is relaxing after getting back home from her big trip.

What a lovely vet you have chosen! Guinea pig sneezes are actually super cute, also guinea pig coughs/hiccups when they eat too fast!

Respiratory illnesses tend to be wet wheezy breathing, puffed up fur, going off food etc. so those are the big ones to look out for, but obviously you did totally the right thing taking her and now you can add another thing you know about guinea pigs to your growing compendium!

Plus he’s right, she is super cute 😉
