Pellets when I’m on holiday

Hi all!

So my boy has pellets (Excel) in the morning for breakfast with some forage and unlimited hay. He gets a hay too up for dinner along with his veggie portion plus a few treats here and there.

I’ll be away for a couple of nights in March and my sister is on piggy duty. She will visit both nights I’m away to do the feed. Do you think my boy will be ok switching for a few days to get all his food in one go, provided he has unlimited hay and water in his cage the rest of the time? I’ve looked at automatic feeders but those are mostly for cats and give too much food at a time.

My sister is trustworthy to do the feeds but otherwise I’ll have to ask a neighbour to do the morning feeds. Also fine but I feel cheeky asking!

A Bowl of pellets once a day is fine. We’d just top ours up as and when over a couple of days. But our girls ate lots of hay.

Some people do just feed piggies veg once a day. It is a personal choice and what the piggies get used to.
We used to get a different person in the morning to the night at times.
If your neighbour has pets you could say you would return the favour if you feel cheeky.

Personally, I always want my animals checked on twice a day while I am away - hay top ups, check water bottles and check that they haven’t become unwell

Mine have never seemed bothered by a routine change when we go away.
Sometimes they like someone new feeding them as they get more pellets than I normally give them.
