A few months ago I decided to put my two GPs onto pellets because they were leaving so much of the Gerty Guinea I gave them before. I put them onto Scratch & Newton (in the pink bags) and they adapted to it straight away. But now I can't get the stuff, which is really annoying. I tried Pets at Home own brand but they don't seem keen. Now they're on Burgess Excel with Blackcurrent and Oregano, and they seem happier with that.

I've got almost a whole bag of Pets at Home pellets - does anyone know whether it would be OK to feed this to my rabbit? She likes Pets at Home rabbit pellets but I don't know if the GP pellets have the right ingredients in them to be good for rabbits. Any ideas?

No idea I'm afraid! You could ask the rabbit united forum..?

The problem being is that the pellets contian vitamin c but rabbits need vitamin d. I wouldn't incase it upsets your rabbits tummy. :)

i wouldn't risk it. by the time you had introduced the new food to the rabbit over 7-10 days they would be gone! and i don't think they have the right things in that is the best for the rabbit. :)

I wouldn't feed them to your rabbit either but why not mix the 2 brands of pellets for your piggies, they may eat the P@H ones if they're mixed :)

Rabbits can get alot of 'too much vitamin c' problems so I wouldn't advice it. Let me know if you see the scratch and newton feed again I am interested on seeing its nutritional information (just because I've never seen it and if its better than Excel I'm willing to swap :D )

i suppose if you mix the two and dont give the bunnies as much veg it may be ok, but you'd have to mix with wayyyy more bunny mix than piggie mix, something like 10:1 to make it ok i would imagine.

xxxxxx

i probably wouldn't advise it

Rabbits need less protein than piggies, so the pellets will be too high in protein, which can cause excess caecotrophs and digestive upset in general.
