Alicia
Adult Guinea Pig
I have 2 female piggies and a neutered male. Recently we've noticed some very red pee, but not all the time and I could never work out who it was coming from. Today I noticed it was Frances, but there doesn't seem to be any visible pain when she does it, no squeaking or straining. However, both her and her sister Phylis are incredibly fidgety when I pick them up, almost flinching (pain perhaps?) I'm going to ring the vets tomorrow but I'm just a bit worried at the moment. Veggie wise they've not had anything that would make their pee that colour but they have been in the run on the grass and had lots of supervised free free range time on the grass. They have Sainsbury's pellets once a day, constant hay from haybox and normally some kind of herb or veggie, either coriander, parsley, mint, cucumber or lettuce. Occasionally apple or red pepper.
I'm going to phone the vets in the morning but do I ask for both girls to be seen? Or all 3? Or just Frances? Has anyone experienced this before.
As I say, she seems completely fine in every other way. Her pee this morning was a much paler red but this is from Sunday. We have been leaving it because we weren't sure if it was something they'd eaten but I can confidently say now that I can't think of anything they've eaten in the last few days that would make it that colour. Have also checked all 3 over for injuries and nothing
