Peanut's Privates Won't Retract

Hi so I just rescued two 5 week old guinea pigs and they seem happy, but the runt is definitely experiencing some sort of problem. When I check his private area I see that his penis is hanging out and is very swollen and red and slightly bleeding (I think because it has been rubbed raw from the guin trying to clean it). I tried checking to see if the issue was smegma related, but there is not an abnormal amount of white gunk around his genitals. This issue started last night and Peanut is still unable to retract his penis. We are trying to get in to see an exotic vet, but everywhere is super booked and wouldn't be able to see him for a while. Any thoughts and comments are welcome we really just need some insight and help.

The only thing you can do is to get him seen soon as. I would send an email and follow up with a call to drive home how urgent it is. And perhaps consider having him seen by any vet possible. I doubt this is due to it being rubbed raw from cleaning. Poor boy must be in pain.

Keep calling round, offer to go in for a cancellation and see if you can travel a little further afield. Hope you get him in somewhere.

That looks extremely sore and swollen. Please have him seen by a vet as an emergency. It could be hair that has wrapped itself around the penis and is strangling it or it could be a prolapse of something.
This cannot wait several days.

I agree - vet emergency. I don't know whether a gentle bum bath in tepid water might help sooth it. Is he still peeing and pooping OK?

Are you sure that's his penis? I'm not a regular penis viewer as my (neutered) boar has the tip of his penis actually hidden within his anal pouch so you don't see it at all unless you go hunting - consequently I can't say right off that looks like a penis as I can't see any of the usual anatomy(?) but that might be because of the swelling. Unless you're sure it's his penis I wouldn't rule out some other sort of growth down there - and I know older boys can get prolapses. It would all count as an emergency though

Ouch that looks so painful your poor boy! He really does need urgent vet care.
