and I'm concerned... does everyone receive this or could it be that I've started to use the paypal function a little more regularly?
My cards are with me and all accounts have money in :)

I've checked it and all is ok. There anything I should be doing?

I g0t this a c0uple 0f times when i had used my card abr0ad and when i spent a l0t 0n it! It tends t0 be a sfatey measure f0r if y0u have d0ne these things x

They've spelt temporarily wrong. Don't think a genuine Paypal email would have spelling mistakes....

yer watch it Kelly - I had one mail, something like yours a while ago and I clicked on link and entered my details and then sent it before I had checked the link and it was a bogus link so had to change all my cards :( The link may look like paypal, but its not :(

Get it checked before you give them ANY info! ;)

Oh yeah! Never noticed that! Could also be why it went straight to my SPAM folder! I check it just in case. :)

I did press the links they gave me out of interest and it came up with 'unknown page', so yeah, think you're all right :)

I got a receipt for the transaction before so if it was really 'compromised' wouldn't they suspend all activity?

Yer exactly - I wouldnt do anything for now, or if you worried call or mail the paypal guys from the proper webpage and perhaps send them the mail? - I have had a few bogus mails since and I have ignored them and nothing has happened..... grrrrrr hate spammers.... :tickedoff:

Report the email to Paypal, there's a link to report it somewhere. Will go have a look. :)

Protect Yourself from Fraudulent Emails

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At PayPal, protecting your account's security is our top priority. Recently, PayPal members have reported suspicious-looking emails and fake websites. These emails are not from PayPal and responding to them may put your account at risk. Please protect your PayPal account by paying close attention to the emails you receive and the websites you visit.

Please use the following tips to stay safe with PayPal:

Safe Log In: To log in to your PayPal account or access the PayPal website, open a new web browser (e.g., Internet Explorer or Netscape) and type in the following: https://www.stage2qa001.paypal.com/j1/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/email-securitypaypal.co.uk
Greeting: Emails from PayPal will address you by your first and last name or the business name associated with your PayPal account. Fraudulent emails often include the salutation "Dear PayPal User" or "Dear PayPal Member".
Email Attachments: PayPal emails will never ask you to download an attachment or a software program. Attachments contained in fraudulent emails often contain viruses that may harm your computer or compromise your PayPal account.
Request for Personal Information: If we require information from you, we will notify you in an email and request that you enter the information only after you have safely and securely logged in to your PayPal account.

Often, fraudulent emails will request details such as your full name, account password, credit card number, bank account, PIN number, Social Security Number, or mother's maiden name.
If you think that you have received a fraudulent email (or fake website), please forward the email (or URL address) to [email protected] and then delete the email from your mailbox. Never click any links or attachments in a suspicious email.

To learn more about protecting your PayPal account, please review our Security Tips.

I wouldnt worry, i had my card down as stolen last week by the bank as i had fraud occuring on my card and I havent even got an email like that, and its the card that i do use on paypal..well no more obv because ive cancelled the card..

I get quite a few spam emails saying that they are from paypal. They get caught in my spam filter but they look so real I always have a little panic when I think they are genuine and I should reply. If you open them they ask for bank details and your paypal password and then you'll have to set up a new password. I just hate the thought that someone has put in so much effort to con other people.

Ive had some of those from that paypal thingy and deleted them after forwarding them to the real paypal

its the phishing thing

I never trust any of those things, my friend had an e-mail so say from paypal saying query for payment for pink dress, the e-mail said that there was a p-roblem with a pink dress she had paid for, obviously she hadnt paid for a pink dress and the link said if you have not ordered this dress click here - she did and was prompted to put in password and sadly they cleared her paypal account out!! I never open any of them or ones from the bank saying "updating our records", the way I see it is that the banks etc all got my telephone number so they can ring me, I never answer any mails about any of my accounts.

yes I do the same as you

Ive had people pretending to be halifax emailing me (i dont use online banking or even have a halifax account) saying i needed to fill something out or my accoutns would be frozen if i didnt do it in 2 days.

The OH got one from amazon saying that he couldnt complete his purchases as there was a problem with his card...blah blah blah...the email addresses look real and the halifax one had their header and everything...its doesnt seem fair that people can do that to you...

I am always suspicious of things like that, but a lot of elderly or trusting people may fall for it and potentially loose a lot :(

:tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: i get those from Ebay and i've never used it ? ? ?
so becareful and next time don't open up the links they can have viruses... :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff:

I wouldn't belive a word of it personally. I definitely would not click on the link but go to the paypal website and look in your account from there to see if there is anything. I would bet my bottom dollar that if you click that link then you would give hackers access to your paypal account.
