Ok so my daughter has asked me quite an intellectual question and i wasn't able to answer her because i didn't actually know so I told her id ask on here! she would like to know if guinea pigs have paws, claws or feet? I'm intrigued now too!

I think technically it's feet and nails on piggies but I'm no expert so what do I know? They are gorgeous whatever they are!

I've no idea what the technical term is. I call the back ones feet and the front ones paws but no science behind it! Particularly as we refer to the extremities as toes on both front and back!

Ha ha! Thanks for all the replies I've told her to call the front ones paws and the back ones feet and the nails claws! She's happy with that answer! Wish she would ask me questions I could answer! Hopefully that will keep her curious little mind happy for a while!...until the next question comes along!

My copy of Guinea Pig Magazine arrived today and there's a 2 page spread on joints. And according to that the answer is that the things at ends of front and back legs are paws - front paw and back/hind paw.

Haha loved reading through the answers....! I called mine 'feeties' or 'feetie weeties'.....( or at the vets I'd say paws in case they thought I was even madder than they already suspected :D ) their bottoms I called 'bum bums' and their eyes their 'beady little eyes'.... you get the drift.... no normal words can be used for such cute creatures! Even their POOPs are CUTE!! :luv:
Sorry I couldn't contribute in an intellectual way, but my heart is now popcorning with the thought of lovely piggies!   x

Ha ha! This is what threw me entirely! Id hold the guineas feet, paws, claws and say in front of my daughter ' look at these, they're so cute, look at them! Id then start stroking them or give them air kisses if they would alliw me! At least I know I'm not the o ly mad guinea owner! In a great way of course xx

I always call their feet talons... I don't know why? I guess they remind me of bird feet in a way, haha. That's just me and definitely not biologically correct.

I always saw them as front and back 'feet'. I guess it's just because of bumblefoot and how everyone always called them feet I associated them with that word. I believe paws and feet are correct. I also call their claws nails because of the fact it's always "nail clipping" and not "claw clipping." I guess whatever is used around you is what you begin to think of in your brain. You could ask some sort of zoologist if you were to come across one.
