Hi, so for the past 4 weeks my guinea pigs poo was black, stinky, breaking apart and covered in a clear layer of fluid sccording to google its gastrointestinal parasites but I'm not sure can someone help and say what it could be and what do i use to trest it (cant go to a vet)

You will need to go to a vet. It’s impossible to say it’s intestinal parasites without vet checks and tests - parasites in piggies are rare in the UK. We cannot tell you what it is as we can’t have hands on with your piggy and we aren’t vets even if we could see your piggy. Medications must be prescribed by a vet. Google is not going to tell you exactly what is causing it in your piggy’s case.

Please remove veg from your piggy’s diet so as to not further cause upset to the gut, ensure you weigh him daily so you can closely monitor how much hay your piggy is eating and step in with syringe feeding if the weight is dropping. You might also consider giving a probiotic to help settle his tummy. He does need to see a vet though. The measures I have mentioned here are not a fix for any issue - they are simply an emergency step and the only thing you can do at home yourself to keep your piggy going until the vet appointment

:agr:

We had one case of Giardia parasite with one of our pigs (rescued from poor conditions), but the symptoms did not fit what you’re describing.

Please follow the excellent advice you’ve had above, and get an appointment with the vet.

Please be aware that when you signed up to the forum you agreed to the forum terms and rules which include:
m) Do not advocate medical 'self treatment'of any animal, any persons found doing this may have their account banned or deleted. By UK law only a qualified vet can diagnose, prescribe and treat an animal and only after a physical examination of the animal.

So your request here cannot be answered as it would otherwise put other members in breech if the rules. Unfortunately Google cannot exam and accurately diagnose a sick animal so you do need to see a vet to be able to find out what the actual problem is

Please take your piggy to the vets for a proper diagnosis. It’s always cheaper to treat the right thing once than try lots of different things that don’t work. All the best.

May I ask why you can’t take your piggy to the vet? Is it a case of little money or transport? If the former, try to speak to them about a payment plan or see if you can borrow money from a relative or friend.
