Pansy and her friends

well as you may know i got 2 baby sows (9 wheeks now) to be friends with pansy :-* well i've been introducing them on neutral territory at play time and they seemed to have been getting along fine well today they seemed so happy together that i tried them in an indoor cage i have which is quite large but probably not big enough (it wasn't going to be their permanent home they should go in an outdoor hutch inside soon). It all seemed to be going so well when pansy started nipping the babies every time they tried to get in the bed she wasn't being really vicious, she didn't seem to mind thaaat much that they were in her cage, just not her bed (not that any of them had been in the bed before). So i took the babies out and put them back in their cage :-\
was it too soon? Is it just because the cage's too small? Obviously, i'm not just going to give up, it just doesn't look that good as both lots seem happier where they are :-\ i'll try again though ?

You have a long way to go yet ;D personally if that was her bed anyway your piggy would be protective of it as it is hers - if it was hers then i would wash it then let the 2 new sows sleep in it without your sow that way theyll think its all theres and theyll hopefully share O0

The cage might be a problem if it is small but couldnt you have just let them stay in the run to play with each other for longer maybe next time ? How long were they playing together for before you put them in the cage ?

just give it more time, let them have more playtime together before putting them in a cage together. perhaps put their 2 cages side by side where they can see and smell eachother. perhaps there was something in the bed? or maybe it was cookie's bed? give it time and good luck and don't give up. but if it doesn't work out you can still put cages side by side and have them together at play time. sending you hugs and cuddles :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: girls send :-* :-* :-*

yeah i thought it needed more time! ;D well they've been playing together for about 5 days now and each time it's about 2 hours, like their normal play time is nobody had been in the bed before, it was clean etc. i got it for the purpose cos it's big enough for 3 i'll just keep giving them play time together and try and get the big hutch in O0 the big hutch has a bed compartement so i'll just stuff it full of hay and forget the bed for now O0 i think i just got carried away and rushed it, it's just everything seemed to be going so well and pansy looked really depressed when we parted them at play time, so i just thought LOL 98)
