Hi I have noticed that some of my girlies poos are a lot paler in colour . Should this be something to be concerned about

Has the consistency changed? How is her weight and have you fed her anything different from usual?

I think the consistency is the same . No I’ve just been feeding what I usually feed them . I don’t know there weight . They won’t stay still for me to weigh them

You really do need to weigh them weekly. You could use a container (biscuit tin etc) and hover your hand over the top. That worked for mine anyway. And maybe pop a few leaves of coriander in the tub so they are distracted by food.

:agr: Piggies generally don’t like being picked up by hand so using something instead makes their (and your) life easier. You could use a carrier as suggested, or a box, cuddle sack, cuddle cup, tunnel etc.

It’s difficult to gauge by eye. So is how much hay they eat, hence weighing. Have a go tomorrow and see if you can get them weighed and given the once over 🙂 it would actually be useful to do before you go away, though one weight record is difficult to compare against.

I always make sure I put plenty of hay in there cage every day

They do look quite plump

That’s good! But, you wouldn’t notice any reduction in hay intake and therefore any potential health issue, without weighing them as you wont necessarily see weight loss visually until it was too late

You cannot judge hay intake by eye so putting lots in the cage does not mean they are definitely eating enough

Should I try and get a pic of there poos

You can, but as long as they are a good shape, a good size and not soft, then it’s usually fine. Being paler than normal may not be significant. We aren’t vets though so cannot say for sure

As the feces sits out in the air the color turns paler and gets harder. Fresh feces is darker and not as hard. I noticed this too with my boys and when I spot clean their cage.
