I haven't got my piggies yet, but I have a large rabbit hutch which the rescue tells me would be fine for the piggies in the summer. It was built by a farmer from proper wood, not ply, and is a very good hardwearing hutch. I have had it for a number of years (my rabbit used to live in it), and I was thinking about painting the outside of the hutch to make sure the wood is still properly weatherproof. I was going to use Ronseal Woodland Colours. How long would I have to leave it before I can put piggies in it after painting?

Hello, I have not used Ronseal for hutches, I use Cuprinol Garden Shades, but I leave it 24 hours before putting animals inside :)

Thankyou. I was going to use the Ronseal because I already have some that I got to repaint my shed.

I use wilkinsons colour garden paint all the time :-) If the ronseal says it is animal safe once dry id say 24 hours :-)

I agree with @Bekki - check that it is animal safe once dry. Some outdoor paints and stains contain a fungicide.

pet safe paints are cuprinol garden shades, and the wilko own brand version. :)

Well I didn't get to paint the hutch anyways, because it's never stopped raining since I posted! I will have to replace the roofing felt though on the next dry day.

Sods law isnt it! Good luck with the felt ive done several now such a boring task especially in 30C heat in full sunshine which is when I did mine :-)
