I just bought the vitamin C tablets since I heard the vitamin C drops in water are not as good. However, since my piggies are difficult, they both won't eat the tablet! I broke it in half and they still won't take it. Is there anything else I can do to make them eat it? I'm just confused why they're not eating it, since they seem to eat everything else.

Is there a medical reason why they are having extra vit c?
I always thought that if they got enough variety in their fresh veg, that they won’t need vit c supplements (unless there is a medical need)? Pellets often contain vit c too.
I imagine they won’t eat them, because they can tell it isn’t food...

I give my Finn and Lara their veggies three times a day hoping they get their vitamin from veggies and fruits.
They also get their endless supply of hay and some Oxbow pellets. Oxbow pellets were recommend by veterinarians and it has a bit of vitamin C in it.

My brother has a guinea pig and when I adopted my first one, I asked him about the vitamin C and he told me to get the vitamin C drops. I guess I assumed they needed extra? So they actually get enough in their pellets and veggies? :o

It has always been my understanding that as long as they have a good diet - 80% hay, a cup of veg and a tablespoon of pellets a day - the veg should be a good variety ensuring that they have vit c in them - then they don’t need extra by way of supplements. If you can’t ensure they get enough from their veg, then perhaps it is a good idea to give extra vit c

I believe if you are honestly monitoring the amount of vit C going into their diet and I don't just mean the dry food I'm talking about veg then you wouldn't need them...
...HOWEVER..

Because pigs have such a quick digestion rate of food, the absorption can be hit and miss - like I say it depends if you are honestly monitoring and working at the ratio each day. So my logic clicks in, specifically for older or more prone pigs to illness to help them along their way to good Vit C intake.

I've found that certain Vit C tablets aren't gobbled up but they do like these ones
