I was wondering if anyone has used/is using anything from the Oxbow Natural Science brand/collection? I was considering the multi-vitamin, the digestive, and the vitamin c (attached pics) just for like general maintenance I guess😅 like to make sure my boys are getting everything they need and to try to keep them as healthy as possible. Have they worked for anyone? Does anyone recommend or not recommend? 5909B90B-F794-4DBA-9F6A-E9059FE74543.webpAA7A307B-BC46-4A00-ABA3-0BFF32F84136.webp8ADE2F3F-C952-4805-B739-596B792008E3.webp

Piggies on a healthy balanced hay based diet with a variety of veg and one tablespoon of pellets will be getting all the nutrition they need and do not require any additional supplements.

I haven’t supplemented any of my small animals in 35 years unless and until there because a medical need to do so

I've had piggies on and off for 11 years. I've never supplemented their diet with anything. The first two had loads of hay and as I didn't know any better then had a bowlful muesli instead of pellets. They lived until they were around 5.

I've just recently started using their 'Joint Support' for 5 year old George who, at 1.35 kilo, gets one lozenge a day. He has arthritis and has been on metacam since November but only on JS for a few weeks. We were gifted the first 1/2 bag but I've bought more because I've really noticed a difference in him - especially this last week - most likely due to the glucosamine I think. He's moving around much more freely and venturing further from the safety of his hideys. Another feature is that for the past 5 days he's had no hair in his front teeth which is a sign that his joints are not bothering him so much (he nibbles at them). I'd even go so far as to say his impaction has improved too - probably a side effect of him moving around! I'd recommend this now to any-pig in George's situation although I'm still keeping him on the metacam.

I don't know that I would supplement a younger healthy pig though. Mine have not had digestive difficulties unless they were otherwise unwell - I know some pigs are prone to bloat but touch wood we've avoided that so far. I know that if you supplement with vitC their body gets used to that and there is a concern that scurvy symptoms can appear if the XS amount is reduced to a normal amount in the diet. I thought I might have to find some sort of vit supplement for George once the impaction started - vet said to offer him the poop we remove in case he wants to eat it (!) but he usually doesn't so I was concerned he might be missing out. However they commented on his glossy coat which is a good indicator of health so she's happy with his condition and we're leaving it there. He gets lots of hay, some pellets, his lozenge, a small selection of veg and a ton of fresh grass. And posh soft water from the supermarket. He eats better than us! We don't grumble if our lettuce is a bit wilty, do we George 😉

Thank you all for your advice! I probably won’t purchase these unless (like some of you said) there is a need☺️
