Overgrown Nails

Does anyone know how long it takes the kwik to receed. I'm looking after a piggie who's nails are in pretty bad shape but they are black and even with my usual trick of shining a torch I can't see where the kwik is. I've been trimming weekly, but she goes home soon and I'd really like to take more off before then.

I don't know for sure but I watched a video by SqueakDreams once on nail trimming and she said take off a tiny bit over and over as it recedes, so she did one nail, then the one next to it, then the third, then back to the first, second, third and again. So that made it sound and look like it recedes almost immediately? So maybe try daily clippings for a few days instead of weekly if you want to take off more nail more quickly.
