My 12 week old piggie is absolutely full of beans. He has been running around, playing with his friend and lots of humping… we have a pet bed with a white cushion on it and I noticed this morning that there were lots of brown sludgey stuff on it. Could this be a result of an overactive grease gland? Norbert is very happy, doesn’t appear to be in any pain so I’m not concerned. Was just a bit surprised to see this brown colour all over the pet bed.

If he has an overactive grease gland you will see his fur is a mess. It will be clumped together and sticky with grease.

I can only guess seeing as we can’t see, but it may be due to scent marking and crushed poop

Hi

Please check the grease gland for yourself. We cannot comment sight unseen.

This is a photo of the ‘grease’ I noticed. There’s just so much of it there. I’m certain it’s not poo. It doesn’t have a smell to it

Have you had a check of the actual grease gland?

Yes I have - it seems clear to me - I can’t see an issue with it. I noticed this after he was very hormonal with his friend and very excited and doing lots of humping

OK - so we can rather rule out the grease gland. Have you checked his anal sac for gunk?

Just had a Quick Look and I couldn’t see anything. The substance left behind doesn’t have a smell at all. I’m going to wash it and see if it happens again. I just didn’t know if this was something that was common
