Hi everyone,

I took one of my girls (4 yrs) into the vet as I thought she may have had a respiratory infection (she was sneezing more than normal) and found out she has two 5cm ovarian cysts.

She has lost a lot of weight over the past year - I did not notice because the cysts made her look chunky. The vet has advised she is not in a healthy state right now.

She said the best solution would be to spay her, however due to her weight/health, the risk is very high and she most likely wouldn’t survive.

The vet said she wasn’t in any pain when she applied pressure to them and that her quality of life is still there. I was told to basically wait until she is not okay to put her down.

I’m just wondering if anyone else has been through this and what they did?

Thank you,

Saskia on the Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue You Tube channel talks about how her vets used hormones to treat cysts at early stages. I wonder if your vet would consider it. I know very little about vet medicine though so cannot give advice. It might be an American practice. I hope you find a treatment that helps. Good luck ❤️
