Katinka
New Born Pup
My 2½ year old piggie, Baby, has been diagnosed with ovarian cysts and I find myself unsure what to do next...
Baby started losing her fur (sides, stomach and back) in the beginning of February. I also noticed her nipples were crusty. I took her to the vet who confirmed that she had ovarian cysts. The vet told me that cysts were common and that there was a chance the condition would get better once we enter spring/summer time (something with hormones//seasonal changes?) The vet said that the only treatment for this illness would be surgery to remove the ovaries- but since surgery is risky, it would be better to do nothing for now and just wait and see if the condition gets better once we enter summertime.
It is now May and Baby is not better (as in, her fur is still missing and her nipples have crusts on them). Baby is happy, active and has a VERY good appetite- but I am super worried and not sure what to do? Research online tells me that it can actually be very dangerous to leave cysts untreated- so any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am awfully worried about my little piggie...
