Hello long time no speak.

Zigg has ovarian cysts and is losing hair. I’m reluctant to operate as a first line of treatment due to her history and the vet has offered treatment with HCG or GnRH.

I am leaning towards GnRH (smaller volume and no antibodies made so it’s repeatable) but I know HCG is the usual treatment. Does anyone have any experience of GnRH?

thanks
Katie

Hi!

Sorry, I haven't got any personal experience as my own vet prefers to spay and is very good at that.

Thank you. If it was one of my other pigs we would spay. I’d rather try injections with this one. No reflection on my vet, his first choice is usually to spay.

Hmmm, I'm not familliar with that treatment. My ovarian cyst piggie has responded really well to lupron injections. She exhibited with fluid filled cysts, hormonal behavior (chasing/mounting cage mate 24/7) crusty nipples, and hair loss on her sides. It's worked really well especially with the behavior, and her fur grew back.

We are not opting for spay due to her age and other health issues.
