hey guys so my 2 guinea pigs have a double 5ftx2ft hutch in my shed and we have created a wooden tunnel from the hutch to an enclosed outside run that is 7ftx3ft, they absolutely love running around the entire thing and at first it was great, however as the outside run is permanent and cannot be moved they have trashed the outside run haha, there is no grass left at all, the soil is all churned up, the only things to have survived in there are the rocks and the hidey houses and the tunnels we made haha. Can we try to salvage the grass or would it be better to maybe use a hemp bedding in there instead to wick away the rain water (there is a cover for the run) and it may be nicer for them than wet soil/grass and just provide food for grazing on instead of permanent grass.
Hope all that makes sense!

That's guinea pigs for you ! Personally, i'd look at putting permanent surfaceavailable ? down . Do you have access to a lawn too -or was this the only grassed area available? Another option would be to grow some grass in pots

Haha they are naughty pigs trashing everything! I have paved concrete for the entire garden with beds surrounding, We thought to grow grass in there would be pleasant for them, I could maybe take all the grass/soil out and just have them straight on the concrete?

my boys have time on grass when the weather is good and the grass is dry but concrete dries much quicker so they often are on that if the grass is wet, just put hay in with them - they love it too - and keeps the nails trim

the bonus too is they seem to never poop on the concrete, only the hay so little cleaning needed after too.
