If it’s raining (but not too hot to have it over) or when the temperature starts to drop towards 15 degrees at night. Then of course they’ll need to be down during the day in winter
As you’ve not got your piggies yet, you are likely to find you will be needing your cover at night as soon as you bring them home. They will still need to be covered at night until temperatures warm up again in late spring.
