First I want to apologize for the amount of questions I ask, you must all be sick of me! :red

My piggies have a hutch with a run attached and a ladder down to it. (like a chicken coop style)
The whole run has a proper roof on it & they have pigloos & tiki huts to hide in aswell as a whole boxed in bit under the hutch.

I normally let them out as soon as I am up around 6am then they run around until night time.
Since, I've had them the weather has been sunny all the time but today it just started pouring with rain.

Marmaduke was in his pigloo & then decided to go upstairs soon after it started to rain. The postie then arrived with my boredom balls from ebay so I ran out in the pouring rain like an idiot to find somewhere to hang them!
Pepsi then came for a look outside then ran downstairs and sat in a pigloo for a while.

The grass wasn't wet at all, probably a combination of a roof on the run, the way the wind was blowing & a bit of luck though?

Anyway - should I keep the boys upstairs if it's raining or is it ok for them to run around on the grass? Or is it a case of depending how bad it is etc? :{

I would say don't let them out if the grass does get wet, it could make the piggies poorly. If the grass stays dry and the piggies are warm enough, you could still let them out xx

My piggies also go out in their run from first thing in the morning til last thing at night. I dont bring them in when its raining - unless its torrential of course.

Inside my run I have two large pigloos and over the top is an old piece of carpet. This gives them a large sheltered area to hide from the rain and sun. Over the top of the run is a shower curtain that gives extra protection from sun rain and wind. If its windy I will pin the shower curtain on the windy side too to protect them.

My pigs are all pretty hardy and have never had a chill. They know when to go for shelter and when to graze in the run. I'd advise that if there is plenty of shelter and the grass they are on is not getting too wet then they should be fine.

If it's just a little shower then they'll probably keep dry on their own, as long as they can access their hutch. If, on the other hand, it's persistent, heavy run then I would also suggest shutting them up. Guinea pigs don't do well in the damp or the cold.

mine stay out with a bit of drizzle, but with heavy rain i bring them back into their shed.:)

My guinea pigs mind wind more than a drizzle. And they don't llike pouring rain!

Lol, thats the same with my piggies. If I am holding them whilst carrying them back to their hutch and it is windy, they will bury themselves in to my chest :)) One time, the pigs were in their run and it started to rain, Eliza stood on her pigloo squeaking away waiting to be picked up :)

Thanks everyone :) I think if it's heavy rain or the grass is wet then I will keep them inside :)
