Can anyone recommend a good sturdy outdoor run for two guinea pigs? We are adopting two guinea pigs soon, they will be housed inside in a c+c cage but for their time outside during the day they need an outdoor run preferably one that folds up while still solid and predator proof. I was also wondering how long people let their pigs outside for and when it starts to get too cold for them to be outside?

You may find above link useful. I have two 6ft folding runs with lids, they came from ebay I'm afraid I can't remember the company name and it was too long ago for the details to appear in purchase history, (sorry I'm not much help there!). It's getting quite late in the season for indoor piggies to go outside unless we get this promised Indian Summer which seems to be ellusive here at the moment! It's been too cold most days here for the last few weeks for mine to go outside.

Thank you, I will have a read of that link now! I'll keep looking for a run but they probably won't be able to use for a while. The rescue centre wants photo's of the cage (which we have) and the outside run before we can adopt.

Mine are still outside and go out in the run when it’s a nice day and the ground isn’t wet. We usually bring them inside for winter around October time or when the nights are cold, I usually judge this by when we feel the heating needs to be on or if it’s bad weather -windy and heavy rain. If you buy a run now it’s likely you won’t get much use out of it for this year but the one above looks great and can be folded and stored away.

I got this one for my boys. It’s good. Currently folded up and stored in the shed.

Okay, thank you! The rescue needs to see pics of the run so I'm going to order that one above and if they don't get to use it then it will be all ready for next!

I’m using C C grids attached with cable ties, so they can be folded up when not in use, cheaper than a folding wooden run.

I do that for indoors and in the shed but not recommended for the garden as not enough protection against cats, birds of prey, foxes or any dogs that manage to get into the garden. Mine are only allowed outside when I can be with them but you only need to turn your back for a few seconds for disaster to strike. One day last summer I turned from weeding a flower bed to see a cat lying along the lid of one of the runs! Several of my neighbours have lost pets to foxes.
