I'm looking to buy a reasonable size outdoor run which I can leave our piggies outdoors in for a number of hours at a time (I'd make sure they had a suitable hidey place in there). We'd be in when we did this but wouldn't be able to sit with them the whole time.

Currently we're using a combination of a hutch with run underneath and off to the side together with one of those metal configure it yourself octagonal ones you see around which we use in a square shape on the front of the run off the hutch to make a nice big area for running round but, although I can peg a cover over the metal run extension and that's great as a sun shade, I don't feel that's secure enough to leave the piggies outside on their own at all.

I've seen this one - does anyone have any views on this? Has anyone got a hutch or run from this company and can recommend them? Can anyone make any other recommendations? Thanks for any help!

Looks good to me :) I would just (as you said) make a shaded area...maybe drape a blanket over one end and let it drape over the back of one of the panels and over 1/4 of the area... As you say a few hidey houses and tunnels and they will love it I'm sure. When i buy a new outdoor run i may invest in one of these myself. :)

We have runs like that here & I used mine successfully outdoors for years until the boys had chewed too much of the wood. I also found the run handy for use as an indoor temporary home when the boys stayed at my son's house.

This is similar to my run albeit twice the size. Just be careful where the wire mesh is concerned. There is a smooth and rough edge to each panel. On my run a couple of the rough edges are at the bottom, they seem quite sharp, so I covered the edges with some draught excluder that you would use on doors/windows and covered it with Gaffer tape.

I got it from Zooplus http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/small_pets/runs_fencing/4_sided_runs/outback/283806 It seems to be a very similar design to the one you are looking at.
Thanks. This one looks good too. When it says it's easy to dismantle, presumably that's only expected to be done occasionally rather than daily? The on I was looking at is designed to fold and that was a big attraction for me but I could perhaps attach this one to a hutch instead and save myself some money!

I have the zooplus one, mine has a sheltered bit, but I still put hideys in there. I think they are good quality. Mine is half the size of the one in the picture though ! about 4ft by 4

Mine is bigger than the one in the above post though, it cost about £70

Although it doesn't say it on the web page the run that I have folds exactly the same way as the large run you are looking at. You do have the option of screwing the top onto the run and obviously you can't fold it then, but I haven't done that. I fold it up and put it in the shed after use. It is so easy to do.

I found similar with mine & had to cover bottom edges of the inside mesh to prevent the sharp metal bits from causing harm.
