Hiya, well my girlies are now 10 weeks and have grown so fast!

Anyway I want to keep them outside as its just not practical to bring them in, with a 2 and 3 year old, our housy is very noisy and Charlotte would pester them continuously!

So they are in a double tier hutch, in the shed and it gets covered with carpet and a snugglesafe and extra bedding popped in at night!

Is there anymore I can do or should be doing?

Also was thinking of giving them a warm breakie if anyone has any recipes!

Also they now have names, they are minnie and daisy, will have to try to post some pictures, but I am not very techi lol xx

Thanks Jen

Its still warm compared to what it will be like in winter so best not to over heat them yet as they will be use to it come winter when its -5 at night!

I have a 2 teir hutch and cover them with carpet and a plastic sheet at night, around late october depending on the weather ill give them heat pads and I live their little pigloo beds with thick fleece pockets which I made myself, I also put as much fleece as possible over the beds to keep the warmth in. I also lent chairs against the carpt to hold it flat against the front to keep any bitter winds out.
last year it was -20 some nights so I brought them in. they were about 3 months old last winter n they did ok and should be much more use to the outdoors this year.

Yes, I agree. My piggies live in a shed also and, apart from putting in more hay, I won't start my winter measures until it's getting to about freezing point or below. Then when it's really bitter, I'll put snugglesafes, extra fleece and extra insulation over the hutch - if you start too early, they won't feel the benefit of the extra warmth when they really need it. I've also thought that I'll give them some warm bran mash on really freezing mornings - hard to generalise, but most years this will probably be Dec/Jan/Feb time. :)
