my 3 girls are in a double tier outdoor hutch and i have winter proofed it
I'm cleaning them regulary
but can the sawdust still get damp even though my hutch has no leaks
i feel really bad for them
hubby doesnt want them indoors and in the summer i can understand
but i worry about firweorks coming up
and ovb the cold
they have plenty of hay and a snuggle pad on a night
but i worry that they will be warm enough

also they have a duvet and two waterproof cover and my waterproof covers are not clear so i cant leave them down in the day or they would be in darkenss
i do have an indoor cage
but ideally its not big enough for them and hubs complains about the mess from sawdust and ovb i have little space for the cage

so i could use fleece, i havent really got funda for a new indoor cage
although ill be back working soon and was wanting a shed for next year for them as this year i didnt have the money or time to get one ready

do i try and bring them in to a cage thats too small but only temporary for winter
i know they love being indoors and i get to handle them more etc

i dont know what to do
I'm trying to think what i could move for space for the cage but they have o go on my dining table and over cmas this might not be best lol
my house is squished at best of times

plus my friend had two guineas that lived in a double hutch but seperate
and one has died and her daughter doesnt really care for the other so i said id take him, with his hutch
so I'm unsure to move the girls in if I'm getting my friends pig

HELP!
lol

Mine were in a double hutch but i have brought them inside into a cage, apparently my cage isnt perfect but i would much rather have them in the warm in a not so perfect cage than outdoor in a freezing hutch :)

if i brought them in i dont have the room to bring the hutch in
so they would have to be in the indoor cage
and id have to put them on fleece or something
I'm just trying to think of ideas i can do so that i can bring them in
but with limited dpace

anyone whos got limited space themselves have any ideas?

Hi,

Is it not possible for you to move some furniture out till Spring. You could put them on fleece so there is no sawdust smell.

If they are inside you will stop worrying about them and then feel alot better and you can see them more.

If you put them in too small a hutch inside they might start squabbling for space.

I have a 5 x 2 c and c in my lounge but to make it fit ok I moved things out, I love the fact that they are warm.

Silly

well hubby has now said i can bring them in after much begging on my part
so ive put them into the cage on newspaper and fleece
yeah i know that they may start squabbling
so I'm on a mission now to find some space lol

i have a mass of space under my daughters bed but i think they may be too noisy and she may want to play with them rather that sleep
she has a mid sleeper bed you see
but i could buy one of the play pens and they could live in that under the bed

just need to find another soloution now
they r squeaking like mad too
i think they r happy
lol

i was allowed to bring them in on the condition that it didnt cost money
so it hasnt..... YET!

what else can i do to make sure they are happy indoors
and any tips from any indoor people lol

unfortunatly i cant move anything out as i have no where to move it out to
and once my xmas tree go up there will be even less space

Hi,

It's amazing what a bit of nagging does to better halves.

You could waterproof under where you are putting them with lino or sheets of plastic if you can get it or for free old plastic sacks to protect your flooring. Then put fleece down. Bearing in mind if the playpen is big enough for three use that. You could use cardboard boxes for houses.

Or if you don't mind spending a bit of money some wooden slats you get to make into caves as you will know they love having places to hide. How big is you playpen? As for three it needs to be big enough. Does you 2 tier hutch come apart from each other, I am sure it would, you could then use one with the run.

When you daughter is asleep, they usually quieten down as well and they fit in with your pattern. I have noticed mine are quiet until we get up. I live in a bungalow so my bedroom is next door to the lounge and I can't hear them.

Can't really think of anything else, sorry.

Silly.

Hi,

Sorry but I forgot to say that my husband was not keen on guineas in the house let alone a c and c in the lounge, but he has now come round to them being here. He isn't an animal lover but said 'well they do no harm to anyone' for him to say that he must think they are ok being in.;)

Silly.

hah it is amazing actually what nagging can do
ive emptied my under stairs cupboards which is in my front room and carpeted
i put the idea to hubby to let them runn free in there
as its about 4x6
but he is not having it
so they are in there in the cage for now
i think I'm pushing hubby for too much in one day lol
so i might leave them in the cage for a week and then put the idea to him again

and its amazing how much crap i had in the cupboard that went elsewhere or we didnt use

I'm really glad they r in now
i know they will get more attention in here too

so now i just have to slowly introduce things so the hubby doesnt really notice lol but is better for the pigs
ie convert the cupboard
: D

they will still need a snuggle pad i think
but I'm sooooo happy

HI,

Bit confused, so you put your outdoor hutch there in the end then?

So the cupboard has lost it's doors then?

At least you will stop worrying about them now - good. :)

What I do with my husband is do things gradually and he doesn't really twig what I am up to then. Mine has realised :x for a quieter life I think.

Silly.

no there in the indoor hutch in the cupboard which has lost its door now
lol
but ive got a baby gate to put across the doorway
eventually without hubby noticing
lol so they can free run in the cupboard,
eventually and gradually lol
i will do it one day when hes on shift
then he wont notice gor 4 days and when he dies notice
its already done! and too much trouble to change it back
