Hi everyone,

We got the girls in November so they haven't been outside with us yet. I'm starting to look at runs for them and think I'd like to get one with a housing bit attached, they'll always be indoor piggies at night time but I will out them out during the day. I would feel safer having a proper hutch area for them to hide in if they wanted.

I've seen the triangular ones like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wooden-Outdoor-Triangle-Rabbit-Hutch-and-Run-Guinea-Pig-Ferret-Coop-Cage-Running-/150904025174?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Small_Animals&hash=item232294b056

This one is a 4' one, I'm expecting they'll go in it between 9am-5pm ish then have free run of the lounge on an evening, then go up to their 4*2 C&C overnight. Do you think a 4' is big enough?

Thank you, BTW I'm relying on you guys to tell me when it's warm enough for me to let them out!

hi, i got a run from here:

http://www.ukrabbithutches.co.uk/shelteredrabbitrunsandhuts.html - i got the first one, but the second one down has a little hidey hut.

the man who owns the company is really lovely, and cares about the welfare of small animals aswell.

i've got the 6x4x2 run for ches and maisie. it's good quality, and i just added bolts when i got it. i really like the sheltered end aswell and so do ches and maisie. :)

eta: i supervise them the time they're out in the run. obviously if you aren't able to, then you would need to put it on paving, or paving around the edge of the run so nothing can dig under etc. :)

Personally i would go bigger, an apex run isn't very wide, a a 4ft long one will probably be narrower than their c&c ... which means their 'run' wont be a 'run' at all, it would be a small cage. I'd definitely go for a 6x4 or similar, in the very warm weather there is no reason for them not to go out earlier and come in later if the sun is in the right place ... the temp between outside and inside is minor in a good summer. Mine are often out from 6am to 8-10 pm.

I've got the 4' traingular run, and it isn't nearly as big as you think it's going to be, and very small for 2 guineas.
I keep it for emergencies, but have made a 6' run out of an old set of metal shelves and a roll of chicken wire! :)

Yes I see what you're saying. With the hutch part there won't be much run left.

I'll look for bigger,
Thanks
