Hi All,

My OH has decided that we need to move the boys outside permanently and the plan is to renovate, waterproof and insulate the garage that we have for the purpose. I'm demanding it's in decent nick - much more light, able to heat during the winter etc. Wondered if anyone has any advice on how their outdoor set ups work. Given the severe winters that we've had, I will not allow them to go outside without the garage being completely fit for purpose.

All advice / photos of your set-ups gratefully received.

Helxxx

:)If you have a small garage or you use it and store things in it and dont have much space you can put a hutch in it. Then in the summer you can move it outside to get a bit more fresh air and sunlight.

Otherwise maybe you could put some mats down and put c and c cages on it?

Hi,

It is the combination of the cold, damp and draught that piggies can't stand, your garage should provide shelter from draughts, so what you would need to provide is constant warmth and constant dry bedding throughout the winter:)

You could cover the hutch during the winter in a thick duvet or insulating material, provide plenty of hay and warm fleece cozies.

My piggies lived indoors during the winter, but it was often just as cold in one of the bedrooms as it would have been in a garage! as the heating wasn't good:{ The piggies were fine and are all very healthy.

The worse thing is to fluctuate temperatures that s much more harmful as this causes uri's and illnesses
