We're very excited in our house (the humans and the guinea pigs.) Cinnamon, Mitty and Blossom just moved into their new 2 x 5 C and C cage.

Here's the cage we initially got. (We'll keep it in the garage in case it is needed for quarantine or if they need to go to a relative at some stage if we go on holiday.)

And here's their new C and C. (Well - version one!)

We put a kitchen area in down one end with newspaper and wood shavings and we give them their food down there.

At the other end we put 2 grids at the top and hung some fleece curtains made from scraps. I've got bricks in the corners there to hold the fleece down and we covered those with puppy pads and spare fleece and they seem to like resting on those.

We only had one pack of grids come so far so it is on the floor for now. Tried putting it on a table but it was a little too precarious so we'll wait til mid Jan when the next big batch of grids come and plan to add a base to it and a stand. We were going to add a loft and ramp but I'm thinking we might leave it simple for now for easy cleaning.

Loving the fleece so far. Have Huggies bed mats underneath then the fleece. Got a new hand vac and it was so easy to just vac up the poops off the fleece. They're doing most of those in the kitchen actually so that's handy.

Anyway - thanks for all the inspiration and helpful tips here that inspired our new cage.

Your cage its amazing. My cages are on the floor and I find it so much easier cleaning them out as I can sit in the cage. Also sit with them when they eat their veggies and they are right next to me.One of mine is really cheeky and sits beside me while I sort the hay so she gets first go at it, the others aren't as brave.

I like having mine on the ground too as i can get into the cage with them and they can approach me instead of me chasing them!

That cage looks fab I'm jealous. Another idea for your cage which I think I'm going to adopy is to have it as a base during floor time like a large litter tray I will leave it open so they can come and go as they please

I do that! I have the grids all attached together using cable ties except one grid that i use the connectors. Then during floor time i just guinea proff the living room and open the door. I put their hideys and things around the living room with a pile of veggies and hay to encourage them to come out. They come out and i sweep and tidy their run. They only spend about an hour out then naturally retreat back to their cage so I wait until they all go back and settle down and put their hideys back and close the door.
