Hi everyone!
So, as some of you may have read on my other posts, we adopted three 'baby' piggies (a sow and two boars) about ten days ago. They're siblings, and our 'theme' was 'cheese'.
Here they are:
That's Brie, our girl. And these are Cheddar and Cheesus:
Of course, they live apart... I -in my ignorance- had thought that once the boars were neutered, they'd be able to live together. But then I found out it's no possible because it could cause our boars to fight and hate each other. So we decided to get another sow so Brie could have a roommate. We had a one-year-old Abyssinian I had see on the website of a shelter, but when she and our Brie had their date, they didn't like ach other. So the woman at the rescue said she thought it would be best to let Brie have a date with another baby. We were surprised to see that they liked each other immediately, started cuddling and even licked each others' faces!
So, we took this little cutie home:
She's very shy, just like our Brie. So this is the best picture I've been able to take so far. We've named her Olive, because her fur is mainly black and because olives and cheese go well together
Her appearance is different from that of our other piggies, no idea if this is common or if they're different breeds... Cheesus, Cheddar and Brie have a more 'hamsterish' face, and Olive's face is rounder, a bit more like that of a bunny.
So, now we have four piggies in two (adjacent) cages, Olive was born on Feb 22nd, the rest on Feb 27th. They're absolutely adorable, but they are still getting used to us so they spend most of their time hiding (we take away their hideouts for a little while each day so they eat, otherwise they just refuse to come out).
As a first time guinea pig parent, I've already made my share of mistakes - like, for instance, using a mug instead of a cup to measure their portion of veggies, just because for me a mug is a cup, that's what we use to drink our tea and our coffee at home, the other 'cups' for me are just 'fancy cups' that only Hercule Poirot or Mrs Bucket would use! I'm still trying to figure out what and how to feed them (I've read a lots but it's still very confusing)...
