I've had a few people visit the sanctuary and when looking at the piggies have asked me, how do I find time to syringe feed so many?
I don't syringe feed any of our guinea pigs with dental issues, as they all eat completely normally, but just need a quick tidy up of their teeth at varying intervals, depending on their particular issue. When they first arrive at TEAS they need syringe feeding, until their teeth have been dealt with, but from there on they eat like any other guinea pig.
You would be unable to look around our guinea pig cabin and pick out which piggies have dental issues, as they don't look frail, unwell or unhealthy!
When I set up TEAS, back in 2011, I put a strict ethos in place that what we do is 'to extend good quality life, but never to prolong suffering' and that is exactly what happens here!
So many guinea pigs have benefitted from the amazing treatment that they receive from Simon and Kim Maddock and most of our piggies live out a normal guinea pig lifespan, enjoying life with their friends!
