Hi, I have a dreadful cold at the moment , this is probably daft but can Guinea pigs catch our germs?
Thanks for any advice.

In theory no, but it is always best to minimise handling when you are ill and use a hand sanitiser when you do need to handle them and prepare their food. I use the F10 handgel.

Hope you feel better soon.

I remember when I last had a dreadful cold - I had to carry on feeding and cleaning out the guinea pigs as OH won't get involved.

The worst was when I had a runny nose - I rigged up a temporary face mask out of tissues and a head band. I looked a right sight .

from what i have observed and found to study guinea pigs can't catch human diseases, they can however carry human diseases, and immune systems are weak when you are already sick. so the only problem is them making you sick, not you making them sick.
