20160828_214933.webp This is Nibbles. Very nosey and adventurous. Panics when I'm moving around near the cage but was quite happy to drink while I sat very still on this occasion.

This is pippin. She's the least adventurous one and also panics easily but will let me stroke her without jumping away if I move my hand slowly.

Only had the girls for a few days so just learning all about them and getting them used to us. I've been able to catch them as I've had to on two occasions to do a complete cage change and to take them to the vet for lice treatment. We've also been a little excited and had them out for cuddles bit realising now that we should leave them be and get them used to smelling our hands and talking to them etc before doing lap times. They are eating, drinking and pooing normally and generally get on but now and again they fight for dominance. They do chase each other around the cage and i think this is a game they are playing bit unsure. So I just thought I'd post a few pics every now and then and log how they are getting on. Any advice would be great.

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :drool::drool::drool::drool:

Sounds like normal dominance behaviour while they sort the hierarchy out... Do you have tow of everything? Houses food bowls etc...?

I have a wooden hidey and a cardboard tube in there but they like to push each other out of whichever the other one is in. Might have to get another wooden hidey so they have the same space each. I don't have separate bowls but I will do that if you think it would help. They just had a major chase and fight with lots of high pitched squeaking and getting in each others faces so I came near the cage and they separated. They have a pen leading off the cage which nibbles likes to jump into every now and then but she never ecsapes to it while arguing with pippin. I was hoping it would be a place she can retreat to as pippin can't climb over yet.

Piggies are great for teaching patience!

When we got our two girls back in May we had a good couple of weeks or so while they sorted out who was boss. You have to go with it and let them sort it out, sounds like normal dominance behaviour. We only tend to see it now when one is in season.

Look forward to seeing more photos!

Nibbles likes to be nosey at the camera.
I have figured out a way to pick her up without her trying to bite me today. She goes in the tube and I put an old flat cushion one side while tipping the tube slightly to get her to sit on the cushion. I take the tube away and ta da! She's nice and comfy, not nervous and jumpy and was really happy to have strokes for ages.

So I've got a nice little pic of pippin for a change as she's not really up for coming out for the camera very often. She decided to scramble up my chest for extra snuggly snuggles and then my daughter thought she might like to eat spinach off my shoulder.....not interested.....just wanted cuddles lol. Scratched my chest a little with her claws as she climbed but so adorable. 20160902_135126.webp

So today we got an extendable plastic tube which I thought might tempt pippin to get from the cage into the attached play pen. Nibbles doesn't really need it as she can jump over the cage base but Pippin always looks over like she really want to but isn't brave enough. She has got into the tube buy not gone all the way through yet. She turns around to get back in the cage after a short time. Nibbles however is loving it going in and out both ends loads and I think that was the only reason pippin tried it. Didn't get a pic of pippin but here's nibbles enjoying it and eating the tasty treat I put in there. 20160902_223540.webp

Pippin has also been in and out of the tube a few times now. They both seem to be having lots of fun with it.
Also here's nibbles doing the same trick pippin did climbing up to my shoulder. She almost went right over at one point and I think this was also the moment she tried to chew my hair lol she loved her cuddles today 20160903_110340.webp 20160903_110208.webp 20160903_110231.webp

It's Ok to have cuddles if they are happy with that

Must admit I hate them, but only cos I spend half my life washing them.
:lol!:

I can see what you mean! Ha ha! Every time I look inside it there's a load of fresh poo again but il stick with it while it's the only way to get pippin to go into the play pen by herself. Tried a wooden ramp and neither of them was interested.

Well Pippin has finally found the courage to jump over the cage base just like Nibbles does and into the pen. She's really enjoying herself!
Also she's figured out she can also jump on top of the wooden hidey just as Nibbles does! Nibbles is a bad influence ha ha or maybe a good one actually teaching her some confidence. 20160904_205706.webp 20160904_201836.webp

Our girls are getting more comfortable with us now. They happily play around my feet in the pen while I brush their cage out and Pippin doesn't panic at all when I want to pick her up. She just stands there, has a little stroke first and then she's ready to be picked up without a fuss. Nibbles still makes me chase her but gives up quicker than she used to. We've put it all down to the fact we are sitting in the pen letting them come to us, hand feeding treats and handling every day for a short time. They have become really confident with their surroundings the last few days. My daughter even managed to hold pippin in her arms instead of on a cushion today and gently put her back down again. She's only 6 but very good with them
