Junior Guinea Pig
Hello all.
My boy Ozzie (5) recently underwent surgery for an abscess on his left shoulder - he has recovered well despite some initial weightloss, and has thankfully not had any further complications and is now maintaining his own weight without support.
However, we have noticed that his urine dries really dark orange. We’ve asked our exotics vet about this, and he has had a thorough exam which hasn’t shown anything - no pain during urination, no inflamed bladder, no sludge, the urine that comes out is clear, it just seems to oxidise to this dark colour. This doesn’t happen to any of our other piggies so we’re a bit confused/concerned - they eat the same diet as Ozzie, and haven’t had any pigmented foods that could have caused it. It also didn’t happen prior to the surgery.
I remember some of my piggies urine drying like this when they were younger, intact makes - Ozzie is castrated and 5 years old, so I’m a bit worried!
Any insight would be greatly appreciated
