Hi there,

My pigs are going through a munchy phase and slowly distroying their wooden houses. So I was on amazon looking for a replacement and a couple of chew toys and I found this amazing range by Resch that has lots of hiding places etc which I know my pigs will love.

I notice that it says they are made from Spruce wood which I'm assuming is pine. Is this safe for guineas?

Has anyone bought these before? How is the build quality? My guineas love stripping the bark from bark log cabins but I have to be careful with them and have to bash in exposed nails once the stripping is finished. Don't really want to buy something that's got a shoddy build. I've been brunt before buying this kind of stuff on the Internet.

From what I can find spruce is unsafe. Pine is, though, so if you can find any made of that that would be a great option.

Also, just clarifying, spruce and pine are two completely species of tree.

I have some of their products. They are very well made, sturdy and nicely finished. The piggies seem to really like them too.

spruce and pine are different? I did not know that :/

Could you possibly post a link to the product you are looking at?
This was the one I was looking at but there are loads of resch houses on amazon it seems.
Resch No11 Rodent Cave XL Natural solid wood made of spruce / with stairs to the lying area / Integrated Hay Rack, two large Entrances and rounded corners: Amazon.co.uk: Pet Supplies

It looks like a lovely hide but I tend to agree that you might be better choosing one without a hay rack.
