Hi, so this is not an infamous C&C cage, but I would like thoughts on it. Right now I have one young boar (3months) in a cage that can only house one pig, I am searching for a friend for him and came upon this. It is from The Guinea Pig Store which is an online store based very close to me, I am in ontario in the Greater Toronto Area. It cost $60 (a steal compared to any pet store cages!) and is 8 square feet. It is only one level. Is this big enough to happily house 2 boars?

This sells for cheaper than a 2x3 C&C cage for some reason though it offers way more space. Right now I only have one pig, so one house, water bottle, food/hay dishes etc. Thoughts on set up for two boars? Should I make a shared "kitchen area" or keep their things spaced out? Each with their own food/hay dish etc? Also I have a bit of a dilemma, I know the scent of my first pig should be wiped clean of everything before integrating the second pig, but my pig has a 100% edible house that is made of natural materials that he loves to chew on. How am I supposed to wash this? I highly doubt it can survive the dishwasher and still be safe for him to gnaw on

I have the Midwest cage and I absolutely love it. I only have sows but I think for two boars ideally they might need a little bit more space, especially since they will need two of everything. I have four ladies and I have actually connected 3 of these cages. Would you maybe be able to buy another cage to connect to this one?

Everywhere I've checked says this is big enough for 2 pigs, how would you suggest set up though? one end for each pig, or a general kitchen area? Obviously I will space out their houses and water bottles so no bullying can happen

I always refer to this thread ...

Cage Size Guide

... as you can see - 8 sq feet is the minimum cage size for 2 guinea pigs .

If I were you , I'd provide them with a house, water bottle and food bowl each - and a communal kitchen area.

As Danielle Meyer as already said, boars really could do with a bit more space so it is good that there is a way to link more than one cage together.

After quarantine (assuming my rescue doesn't come through and I end up getting a GP off kijiji or from a pet store) I can look into attaching the cage I have now. It's not the same brand or anything but I have someone who is pretty handy in the house. Also do you have any suggestions for cleaning my pigs edible house? He really loves it I'd hate to take it away but I don't want to give him anything to be territorial over

I wouldn't even attempt to clean the edible house ! Perhaps , you could not use it for a few weeks - until you are happy they've settled in together .

Yea I guess I'll put it in another room and hope his smell weakens enough to not cause anything serious. I don't mind if he's like "hey this place is mine" with a rumble I just don't want anything serious. Also I read somewhere during the first week I shouldn't give them one entrance houses? Is this true? Should I wait to give them hideys?

Yeah they should not have one entrance hides for awhile so that no one can be trapped. Tunnel hides work better for the first two weeks or so.

Yes - I've read that too !

Have you read this thread ?

You can use cardboard boxes as hideys .

I have also 2 Midwest cages for rescues. As you may saw, you can easily combine two of these cages and then have 16 square feet.
One cage is in my opinion for 2 boars too small, but for a castrated male and female it may be ok, if they are allowed to play a couple of hours in your room.
