Operation wound bleeding

Hello.

My guinea pig Gonzalez had an operation last Tuesday to remove a mass from his abdomen. His wound has been healing well but started to scab over and I think Gonzalez has bitten off a scab and caused part of it to bleed a little. I’ve attached a photo.

Does anyone recommend anything I can put on it to help heal / stop him from biting or knocking it?
I also think that purple blob near the top of the scar is maybe an internal stitch coming to the surface as haven’t seen it before, does that matter? or should I contact my vet and let them know?

Its not bothering him, he’s acting normal and not in pain with it. Thanks!
 
Is he still on metacam or loxicom from the vet? If so it might be worth asking the vet to prescribe it twice daily to help with the healing discomfort which should help reduce the amount he scratches at the area. I found this helpful when my late Donald had an abscess on his neck removed as he kept opening it up by having a scratch

Thank you! He stopped his metacam on Monday as he suddenly had diarrhoea so the vet told me to stop his antibiotics and metacam to help his poos get back to normal, which they have now so maybe I’ll get him back on the metacam again!

Please always contact your vet clinic promptly if there are any issues with the recovery.
