I know it may seem like a funny question but I've built my boys a new home but I'm worried if they could get out the top? Can they even jump that high? image.webpimage.webp

It all depends on the pig. Most won't, but some will. I think the sides are a 'little' low but i'd be wary of the house near the back. They could climb on that hut and then jump out. :)

Ah ok, maybe I'll take that out then. Bit worried they might try and escape! Any suggestions on how to make it better?

It looks like they could if they climbed on top of the rainbow sticks - mine like to do that!

Not sure as to the rest of the cage - hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along soon. Great building project though!

Apart from making the sides higher and making sure nothing is up against the open sides for them to climb up on there isn't much else you can do other than keep a close eye on them.

Love the coloured log house, where did you get it? Mine are plain brown

I think it depends on the piggy. My set up is the same and I've had 6 piggies trying it out.. The only one who ever tried and escaped was my baby beanie!

The roof looks really smart! One of my first pigs used to *leap* out of their outdoor run when it was bedtime. We had to open the roof a tiny bit to see where she was, then get hands ready to catch her as she jumped! The sides were about 1.5 foot tall. I'm not sure if she could have actually jumped all the way out though, she climbed the last bit up our arms!

It depends really on the pig. I've got four girls and the sides of my cage are around 25cm. Three have never really bothered trying to get out. The other one, Rosie, (the one in my profile pic!) has a habbit of jumping up the side and looking over the top. She also moves the houses around so she can sit ontop of them and look over the edge. She's never jumped out though, although she could if she wanted to. I've never tried to stop her and she's never tried to jump out and my cage is on the floor in an enclosed room anyway so she couldn't get far even if she did.
I'd just keep an eye on them and make sure that there are no houses or anything near the cage wall that they can use as a "step". if you're still woried about the jumping out you could always buy some garden netting (the stuff they put over garden ponds to keep out herons) to put over the top. Just make sure that the net spaces are small enough so that your piggies can't put their heads through and get stuck. I used netting on one of my earlier cages to keep my cat out of it and it worked like a treat. ;)

3 of my 4 pigs are definitely "jumpers" , I think it's in their genes (they're all related :) ) and they like leaping about everywhere. Definite flight risks! I'm not sure the fourth knows how to jump though, poor pig.
So it depends on the pig really. Your cage looks good though! :) definitely play it safe with the cage tops on the top.

I had a jumper so I make sure there are no toys at the side of the cage (c&c). Beware of fleece they can pull down and climb onto and out. Mine have done that too
