my piggies have a loft but I've had a lid on their cage in case our elderly cat took an interest. The cat is no longer with us sadly so I'm thinking of taking the lid off to give them more space underneath the loft, if you see what I mean, but do piggies ever ju,p out of an open top C&C cage?!

Mine haven't but some do climb up as high as they can. I would just make sure there is nothing round the edge that they can climb on.

I'm sorry you lost your cat.

Never had an escapee but I do have one very tall pig who climbs so I did have to lower my base and move all solid houses away from the edges. I now only have soft cosies that collapse under her weight near the edges. Carrot cottages, wooden houses etc are carefully positioned to prevent a rampaging piggy

Ours put their front paws up on the correx when it is food time but that's it - so a long way off trying to actually get out. As @VickiA says, if you do have a more adventurous piggy, keep things away from the edges that they might climb on and leap off!

Ollie is a climber pig as well. I just make sure nothing is climbable near the edges. I used to have a fleece forest in one of the corners and he used to climb that. Since I've taken it off (it was like having a lid in the corner) he hasn't climbed at all.
