Silly thought... was looking at the c&c cages and thought a lot of people use home made wooden units etc which look like part of the furniture and wondered what anyone thought of using a bookcase surround? As long as it was sturdy and had a back that became the bottom of the cage. .. not putting the shelves in would make it quite a nice area for them... then fleece it and put a bottom liner or something waterproof in under the fleece.... have I missed any problems? Seen some home built cages what have been old sideboards or even bed stands... but I'm not very diy

Not silly at all - my friend uses an IKEA bookshelf without shelves as an indoors cage for her piggies over winter. Just be sure to line the base with vinyl flooring or similar to stop pee leaking into the base. Otherwise it works really well as an indoor enclosure
