I noticed a while ago that Opal has a hard thing on her foot. A spur maybe? Is it anything I should be concerned about, will it fall off naturally. Should I take her to the vet?
She did loose weight a month ago, but was acting totally fine. And has since put the weight back on. Do you think she could have been under the weather and it caused the foot thing?
There has been no change in her behaviour.
I tried to get photos.. which was very difficult :))

Hi!

Unless spurs stick out badly and are posing a risk of catching somewhere and causing a rip in live skin, it is best to just leave them be.

They are just a harmless and very common growth of dead, horny skin typically on the sides of the front foot pads. Because they are on the sides of the pads where there is no direct weight on them, they are not interfering with mobility. About one quarter or a third of piggies develop spurs but the vast majority doesn't need any attention.

Yours is not in the risky category and can just left be. ;)

The last photo made my heart into a puddle 🥰🥰

Awww... she's precious, first of all. It does look like a spur... they don't fall off, but they also aren't harmful and unless it's sticking out and catching on things there is really no need to do anything at all. Some pigs get them and some never do... no idea why!
