Just wondered what you all think about it, its been on the radio over the past week that its becoming more popular, and an easy way to meet potential partners, so has anyone ever joined a dating site etc? or had a bad experience?

I met my bf online, not through a dating site though we met on a myspace type site, i started talking to him because he lived locally, he gave me his number and i txt a few times and he rang me a few times a day, I was always very careful and never met anyone from the net, anyway 4 days later I asked him out for a drink..stupid I know! But it went very well, and 2 years later and we are still together, for the first three months of our relationship I had the constant thought of maybe he's a physcho and being friendly to me for a little, then strike lol After out first date i chose to walk home rather then him give me a lift :D

Anyone else got any experiences with people off the net?

Well I met my boyfriend over the internet like 2years ago and 3months haha
I didn't date him over the net for long, we met in december 05 :)

I met 90 percent of my boyfriends over the internet. And this year I am getting married to one :) O0

i dont believe in online dating.
the whole point in love is to see each other and kiss and hug ect.
i'd rather have real life were i can fall for them and then kiss them.
theres a big difference between an online relationship and offline.

but you only 'meet' them online and then in person from there. LOL

i like to meet people the old fashion way.
i nearly got a lad lately.
he asked me out...i fancied him but what did i do...freak out and say no.
we acted as mates but then we argued and now he hates me. and i relised i made
a big mistake and should of said yes. and now i cant stop thinkin about him but
i cant even see him cuz he aboustley hates me! :(

Personally, I dont see why meeting someone over the internet should be bad.

Its just the modern version of having a penpal.

I didnt 'date' him on the net, we were only mates..we met up had a drink as friends..needless to say he couldnt keep his hands off me all night ;D and we went from there really..lol id never met anyone i get on with so much.

I always wanted to go into this. Howwever now, i dont think i could. I've heard some bad things about them, a lot of people got conned by people online etc.

it was crazy for us - we met on a forum, and started PMing each other. then we started chatting over ICQ and MSN.. talked more and more.. all of a sudden he phoned me. God I was scared! Was afraid I wouldnt be able to say ANYTHING in english!

And then he came over to germany to meet me, we instantly knew this is it. I visited him twice in the UK before moving country to be with him... and now we are getting married :)

All that within three years :)

I met my husband through a dating site on the internet. We exchanged phone numbers and talked A LOT before meeting in person.
When we finally did meet it felt like we had known each other our whole entire lives. This is the second marriage (and last) for both of us. He is the best thing that ever happened to me. There just are not alot of places to meet decent people any more. I have met a few weirdo's on the internet but thankfully none of them knew where I lived! My husband and I will be married a year on 5/27/07. Neither one of us can imagine life with out one another.

I dont see anything wrong with it, if anything its better as you get to know the person before you meet them, so you already know them pretty well and because you cant have sex, you know that they actually like you for you rather than your jiggily bits! :)

Totally agree with you. It was a bit more difficult for me being in a chair. 'normal' able bodied people don't look twice!

yeh i agree with that, i only knew pete 4 days before we met which was totally out of character to me I'm always normally very careful but because id heard his voice and he sounded like the age he said he was, and he knew everything about the modern sort of day lol i met him..was great :D

This is the age of technology now so more people meet over the net as they sit infront of their comp all the time. I think you are right in saying it is a modern day penpal! As long as you are careful I dont see what the problem is at least you get to know the peson before you meet them instead of going on looks, as I think we have all missed oppertunities based on looks alone!

OK it's not dating, but isn't it a bit like when you meet people from the forum too?

It can always remain an online friendship and you never meet

I would not dare do anything like that, i may be 19 but my arents are so over protective about this they are even warey about these forums and having Pm's on them. If my parents thought i was using the internet to meet people my mam would have the plug pulled, she is far to over protective. A couple of years ago i went on a crimbo meal with people i worked with in a college placement and she had to know that that one of the girls would drop me off first in the taxi before they went home, they did as i was still 17 but jeez shes protective :o

A bag experiance was when me and my friend were 14 we went on chat rooms at her house and an old man kept trying to talk to us even though we kept leaving the 1-1 room he still wouldn't leave us alone, abit freaky :o

i was 18 when i met my bf, (not bf at the time) and I told everyone where I was going, we met where I wanted to meet basically it was all on my terms, and we met in a pub like 2 mins from my house so if i needed to leg it i could, and it was public, i told my mate to txt me throughout and she could drive n said if i needed to get out of there she would pick me up asap, and i got my mum to ring me etc better to be safe and tell people where your going and who with.

The first time I met my hubby (obviously wasn't then), couple of my male mates came with me O0

I met my bloke over the internet, but it was special circumstances...My best friend ran away so I hacked her account and organised a search from London to Glasgow between her friends and mine. Jayms and I just kept in touch after she was found.

But I don't like dating sites or dating services. I think they're pretty pathetic really. If you're going to meet someone online you're best off meeting them like you would in real life, through something that interests you both.

I met Luke on Faceparty :)

I had spoken to him for a couple of years before we first met. 2 years and 6 months later, we are still together :)

Ahhh I seee O0

And what do you mean without the good stuff? You got a OH out of it didnt you? ;D ;D ;D
