Hi there. Our pigs are ill atm, and I went to post in the illness forum to ask for advice. I saw the sticky about one thread per pig, and since we had an old existing thread about a pneu infection I added the post to that thread.

However, I'm unable to edit either the thread title or our initial post in the thread which means the topic title and the original post have absolutely nothing to do with the problem/active content of the thread. So, say, if I posted a thread last year about bumblefoot but now add to it because I have urgent questions about an eye infection there are likely to be users who would be glad to help but who see the thread listed and think "Oh well thats a really old thread with loads of responses they don't need my help." or "Well I don't know much about bumblefoot, if it was about an eye infection maybe I'd be of some use.". Which, to a stressed owner, is not a nice pleasant position to be in.

I completely understand the reasoning behind the rule - to prevent people who'd like to help having to trawl through the forum to find previous relevant threads, and to stop the forum becoming cluttered with half a dozen threads about the same pig - but wouldn't it be reasonable for the poster to just include links to any relevant threads in the original post?

Cheers :)

i think it was more aimed at people who made more than one thread about the same piggy and same illness. if its a new illness or a different piggy make a new post.
