Hi guys, yesterday I noticed my guinea pig has one nostril swollen. She is completely normal, eating, drinking, playing. It is just the one swollen nostril. It seems like it doesnt hurt her either, she is ok with me touching it. Could it be that just a piece of hay that could have hurt her? Or she maybe hurt herslef while grooming? :(

Hi and welcome

If it continues to get worse, please have it vet checked. it is impossible to say without a hands-on examination. Our guesses would be as valid as yours - they are just guesses and not what you need. ;)

Thanks. And definitely. I took her to the vet like 2 months ago because she was sneezing and had a bit runny nose. The vet said she is okay. The only thing was, that her nostrils were dirty. There was like a black/dark brown dirt. Probably her poop? :D
Could this be a sign of URI?

No, this here is not a symptom of UTI, rather a small infection/inflammation etc.

If there is dirty much being sneezed out of the nostrils, then it is more likely dust from hay or bedding. How are you keeping your piggies, indoors or outdoors and on what kind of bedding?

A vet trip is always a good plan with any concern.
It’s better to be reassured that nothing is wrong than risk missing something that could be serious

Gorgeous piggy by the way

They are indoors and mostly on fleece. But 1/4 of their cage is wood shavings and wood pellets as their toilet. I also put some hay on the fleece, so it is easier to eat it like that for them. But she doesnt sneeze often and has clean nose now.

Yes we will take her tommorow.

Hi! What did the vet say about her nostril. My piggy seems to be coming down with the same thing and I’m worried. Going to take her to a vet soon
