So I was cleaning my guinea pigs cage and I'd placed them in a pet carrier because tiberius tried jumping off my bed and septimus almost followed them and I'd placed a bed cover in it and I'd taken it out of the carrier after putting them back in their cage and noticed that there's a wet patch that's a brownish red color an it smells sweet.
Could anyone tell me if this is not good or something cause I'm a little worried about it also I don't know which one of them is having this happen

Yeah they have, my moms given them more carrots then I normally do today
That might be the cause. Don't feed anymore carrots and watch closely for the next day and a bit. If it carry's on I would consider doing a check up with the vet as it could be a UTI :)

Pee can oxidise to a brownish red when in contact with air without you needing to worry.
You have to worry if you find bright red patches, or if you see reddish dots or a reddish/differently hued ring around a larger pee puddle. Blood has a slightly different specific weight to urine, so it doesn't mix if it is present in smaller quantities in the urine.

Please see a vet if you perceive more signs of bleeding in the next days. It is like a UTI (urinary tract infection)

Thank you! I'll definitely keep an eye on that, if I see it I'll take both of them to the vet.

I had this with my piggies, and I panicked! Then I read somewhere beetroot can do this and I just fed them beetroot. I stopped and the problem stopped too.

Is beetroot good for them?

I didn't feed mine beetroot again after the pee incident just because I worried so much, they liked it though
