I can pick up my little fur potatoes but they won't let me clip their nails. Right now they're very long and starting to curl back. No problems but soon there will be. I think I can afford to take all four of them to the vet once a month. That's it. I wish they had a scratching instinct like cats. At least they take care of their own teeth by chewing on crunchy things.

About every 4-6 weeks. You will find the balance that is right for you. All the best!
See whether you can find a vet nurse with guinea pig/small rodents experience who could do it for you. I know that it is more difficult in the USA than in the UK.

If you have a pet shop/pet supplies shop with a groomer within range, they might be able to do them for you. That might be a bit cheaper and also not have to book so far ahead.

If you are nervous then a trip to the vet nurse can help.
Maybe start by taking along 1 pig and explaining you need to learn how to do it yourself and ask her to help.
I always found that with difficult piggies (I am thinking of you Ruby) that having someone competent holding them allowed me to remove a smaller piece of nail at a time until I was feeling confident that I knew what I was doing.
