Ollie loosing a little weight gradually

Hi,

Firstly, I would like to apologise for only ever using this forum when I need advice. I would love to make more frequent happier posts.

However, Ollie my oldest Piggy he is 4 has always been very healthy and passes his weekly Piggy checks everytime. However, after reading the recent article in GPM about weekly checks I saw that a gradual decline in weight could mean a problem. I was getting slightly concerned before this even though the drop is small but continuous. If I attach a list of his weights would anyone know if I should be concerned? Thank you so much.

Hi, his lowest weight is quite a drop from his highest weight isn’t it? We say that a weight loss of 50g is a cause for concern and he has lost that. I would have him seen by your vet if he continues to lose. There’s a number of reasons that could affect weight loss. Good luck x

Yes it is definitely time to see a vet.
50g of loss in one go is when you go on alert. When each weeks loss is less than 50g but it adds up to a continual, gradual decline, when it gets to 100g is of concern. His loss is now almost 200g so he definitely needs to see a vet.
Please step in with support feeding him to prevent any further losses.

Hi everyone,

Iam pleased to inform you that Ollie had a good check over at the vets and the vet was happy with everything there. She wanted to wait just a few more days to see how he was before beginning any treatment/further investigation. She gave me a sample bottle to try and capture some of his urine. Since his visit he has started to gain weight slowly again. The only thing we have done differently is cuddle him more and observe him everyday. . Ollie is the Piggy on the right with his brother Peanut. Thank you everyone.
