Hi everyone,

My piggie is a rescue that I got around 2 months ago. She's an older pig and came to me (unknowingly) already pregnant. She's given birth to 4 stillborn in the last 24 hours and a sack of water. She still has one pup inside that is creeping to the finish line. She's exhausted. I've taken her to the vet and they gave her calcium, oxytocin, antibiotics and pain relief. They advised that I had three options in the meds, a c section or euthanasia. I chose to give her a chance to come through with just medication as I can not afford the $1500 fee for the c section.
The meds seemed to work as she delivered a second water sack and placenta but then there was no baby and her contractions seem to have stopped and she just wants sleep.
I can feel the baby sitting at the birth canal but I don't know if there's a way to "pry" it out.

I’m sorry to hear this.

It would be best that you contact the vet again for advice on what to do - it wouldn’t be safe (or legal) for us to advise anything other than that course of action.

I hope she is ok

Oh, okay. I guess I was just hoping someone may have had luck with a pig that made it through. She's still eating and drinking.
Unfortunately, none of the vets in my area offer payment plans.

Aw that’s so sad 😞 I agree that consulting your vet again for advise would be the best bet as sadly, nobody on the forum is legally allowed to advise you on how to help your girl push the baby out

Good luck, I hope your piggy will be ok x
