Hi everyone đź‘‹
Long time lurker but first time poster here!

I am hoping for some advice on what you would do in our situation. We have 2 female piggies, Olive (7) and Baby (4). They've both been relatively healthy. Our old lady Olive had some ovarian cysts around 2 year ago.

Despite living a 2 1/2h drive away there is no on we trust more with our pigs than the Cat and Rabbit clinic.
Kim did an absolutey amazing job at spaying Olive and removing her cysts. She was already 5 at that point and we were aware she might not make it due to old age. She snapped back to eating and moving normally ONE day after her surgery. We were over the moon!

Since then we've had no issues. However we've noticed quite big new lumps on Olive recently, they are on both her 'sides'. She does not seem to behave any differently though. She still gets very excited by food and eats and drinks regularly. She cleans herself and moves around perfectly fine even if she's a bit slower at 7 years old.

We would want to take her to Kim and Simon if any treatment is necessary but unless she shows sign of pain or any unusual behaviour we were just going to monitor her closely. I am just worried the 5h drive will be too stressful for her old little heart. I think any surgery also seems too risky at her age.

Are we doing the right thing in just letting her be like this? I am just worried that she is uncomfortable but not showing it to us :(

Would really appreciate other people's perspective on this. Thank you!

Hello and welcome to the forum
We also use Simon and Kim, our old boy Ted had regular conscious dentals for a number of years with them and was also neutered by Simon at 5 years old. They certainly are the best! Our drive was a 600 mile round trip and both boys Bill and Ted travelled very well. Bill had a mammary tumour removed and travelled all the way back 300 miles plus straight after his op too

Good luck 🤞 discussing it with them helps
