I've used one in my shed for over 12 months. As long as you keep a safe distance from the hutch to prevent the piggies from baking. They're safe as they don't give off fumes.

Provided they are fused correctly, they are perfectly safe. There is no greater feeling of pleasure walking into a warm shed and see the tribe stretched out fast asleep enjoying the warmth.

I used 6 of these to heat my house when I lived in a converted barn.

I didn't know they gave of fumes :s I thought they didn't as its run by electric. I never noticed fumes.

I've noticed quite a few people use these in their piggie sheds. As long as they are used sensibly then I think it would be okay.

thanks yes I have been reading frantically! lol and seems lots of people use them, we have ordered this as I don't want them cold.

also ordered snuggle safe :) someone had said about the fumes but think thats an oil burner not and oil filled radiator as apparently the oil is contained and just warms! .....stressed piggy mum!lol

my pigs are indoor piggies but i was looking at purchasing a couple of these for our home - our property uses storage heaters, but 1 of the two heaters in our living room diner cannot be used as the piggies cages are right up against it - so we need to find additional ways of heating the room to keep piggies and us warm - 1 storage heater to heat up a 28ft x 13ft room just isn't enough!

i see no problem with them being used in a shed on a low heat - loads of people use them now because of how efficient they are to run

That's correct, oil filled radiators are self enclosed and don't give off any fumes at all and do not have any naked flames. The internal oil is heated using electric elements, once it reaches the desired temperature, the thermostat trips off. Unlike a convector heater, the oil retains heat for quite a while before turning on again.
